Josh Maka

Some careers are chosen. Others are cultivated over a lifetime.

For Josh, the study of the human body began at the age of four, inside his family’s martial arts studio. Immersed early in discipline, movement, and structure, he began assisting in teaching by age eight and earned his second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do by twelve. This foundation instilled not only technical precision, but a deep, intuitive understanding of how the body moves, adapts, and performs.

Over the years his pursuit of knowledge continued & in 1999, Josh began studying Tai Chi, eventually teaching for eight years while living in California. That same year marked a pivotal expansion into the healing arts, as he enrolled at Body Mind College in San Diego to formally study holistic health and therapeutic bodywork.

What followed was the development of a multidimensional expertise that bridges performance, restoration, and transformation.

For more than two decades, Josh has established himself as both a highly skilled practitioner and a respected educator. He has taught comprehensive 720-hour massage therapy certification programs at Kaplan College, directed training programs for United Education Institute, and developed advanced curriculum and continuing education courses for the School of Healing Arts, Elite CME, and Colibri Group across multiple states. His work has also extended into training home healthcare teams, equipping providers with effective, results-driven bodywork techniques.

He is particularly known for his expertise of body mechanics—an area where his martial arts background and clinical experience converge—allowing him to both deliver and teach highly efficient, precise, and sustainable techniques.

Parallel to his physical training, Josh has maintained a disciplined internal practice. With over 25 years of Vipassana meditation experience, he has completed numerous 10-day silent retreats, and has maintained a daily meditation practice through the years. This depth of presence shows in every aspect of his work, bringing a level of focus, awareness, and intention that clients immediately recognize.

His path in Hatha Yoga began in 1997 and culminated in completing the intensive nine-week Bikram Yoga teacher training in Los Angeles in 2011. That same year, he earned third place in the Florida Regional Yoga Asana Championships—an acknowledgment of both his discipline and technical refinement.

Since beginning his massage therapy practice in 1999, Josh has become highly sought after for his connective tissue therapeutic bodywork. His approach is known for its precision, effectiveness, and distinctly intuitive quality—often delivering results that extend beyond physical relief into lasting structural and functional change.

Today, Josh travels throughout the country leading advanced trainings and seminars in connective tissue therapy, Yoga and meditation. His teaching style is both grounded and elevated—designed not only to build skill, but to deepen understanding and awareness for every student he works with.

When working one-on-one with clients, his focus is equally intentional: helping individuals release chronic tension, restore balance, and reconnect with the intelligence of their own bodies.

Driven by a genuine passion for helping others, Josh’s mission is simple: to share the knowledge and tools that allow people to experience real, lasting change—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
